We are second year MD/PhD students living in NYC. We started @ScopesandScrubs to share our experience in efforts to give exposure to MD/PhD programs and inspire others. Additionally, our goal is to make science/medicine fun and provide students with the resources to excel in the STEM fields (and fashion).

I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada but have fallen in love with New York City after moving here for college. Fun fact, I am an identical twin and my sister (below) and I went to college together and are currently in an MD/PhD program together! I went to Columbia University and graduated in 2017 with a degree in Neuroscience. I applied straight out of undergraduate into dual degree MD/PhD programs. I have a wide range of research interests including stem cell biology, immunology, and neuroscience. Outside of the classroom and lab I love hanging out with friends and exploring the city for new museums and restaurants!

I am originally from Las Vegas, Nevada (just like Lindsey… Surprise!) and moved to NYC for college 5 years ago! I went to Columbia University and graduated in 2017 with a degree in Neuroscience. I always knew I wanted to be a doctor but after starting basic research as an undergraduate I knew I couldn’t stay away from the lab and decided to apply to MD/PhD programs to get the best of both worlds! I am interested in neuroscience. My absolute favorite neighborhood in the city is Soho. I love the art, architecture, and, of course, shopping!

I am a Miami girl. I am 1/3 sisters born to Cuban and Argentinian parents (please ask me about food). I am a first generation college graduate and a Worlds Ahead Scholar from FIU! I graduated with a degree in Biology and Chemistry in 2016 and took a research gap year. A lot of little things made me fall in love with science and medicine. More specifically, I am fascinated about the brain! I wish to be a neurosurgeon and a neuroscientist. When I am not hibernating in the library I am at the gym, playing sports, writing music, exploring the city, or dancing with my friends!
